Layla Hologram Effect in Emerald Divine & Red Taboo, Mirror Effect in Black as Ebony and Ceramic Effect in Butterfly Effect Swatches and Review!

Good afternoon my fellow lacquered lovers!  Happy Tuesday!  I hope you all are having a wonderful week so far!  Today, I have the second half of the amazing Layla nail polishes I got at Cosmoprof in Las Vegas last week!  I know you've all been waiting for the holograms and mirror effect polishes so today, I have 2 holograms, 1 mirror and a flakie for good measure!  Now, without further ado, on to the polish!

This is how incredible this polish is even in artificial light!  It's stunning!  Emerald Divine is a gorgeous bright green holographic.  In the sun, it's even more stunning!  The holographic effect is very strong in this one, stronger than even some of the 8 original Layla colors!  I didn't use a base coat, just Layla's buffer that they recommend and this is 3 thin coats to get the most intensity out of the shade!

Ok so for some reason, Red Taboo didn't want to play nice with my camera.  The holographic effect IS stronger than it shows here, however it is NOT as strong as Emerald Divine.  It's also not exactly red, it's more of a dark reddish pink.  It's really beautiful in person and you can see on the accent nail picture it is more holo than the ones above it.  If you are looking for a true red holo, this is definitely pink in person but it's just beautiful!  I did three thin coats for full opacity!

Now this is a really special polish.  Black as Ebony comes from the new Mirror Effect line that will launch in the US very soon.  There are 8 (I think) colors that all have a chrome finish.  The amazing thing about these chromes as compared to others is that there are NO brushstrokes.  It kind of looks like there might be when you paint it on and then it dries to this unbelievably smooth and shiny finish.  I could seriously see a fuzzy reflection of myself in them!  You can't use a base coat with this because it gets all wrinkly so you use Layla's very fine buffer to smooth out your nails.  Keep in mind that any imperfections will show with this polish but it dries unbelievably fast so this is perfect for a manicure on the go!

The Butterfly Effect is part of the Ceramic Effect Line and part of the Christmas in Laylaland holiday collection for 2012.  The Butterfly Effect (also known as #52 in their lineup) is a beautiful dark purple jelly full of flakies that flash gold, red and green.  This is pretty much a dead on dupe for Nfu-Oh 51!  The flakies give a duochrome effect and while this is three thin coats layered, it would be gorgeous over a dark purple also!

Here is just a fun picture of a manicure I did with Black as Ebony and Emerald Divine:

All in all, I LOVE these polishes!  Layla really has some exciting stuff coming out this year between the soft touch lines, mirrors, flakies, glitters and holographics!  I love seeing this innovative brand really becoming successful and coming out with gorgeous polishes!  All of these are starting to pop up all over the world so keep your eyes open!

Layla Softouch Effect in Turquoise Splash, Magneffect in Starry Night & Purple Galaxy and Magneffect Soft Touch in Turquoise Wave Swatches and Review!

Good afternoon my fellow lacquered lovers!  Happy Monday!  Today, I have the first half of my swatches I received from the amazing brand Layla!  They have a bunch of new lines coming out so today I'm going to be showing you the one "soft touch effect" polish I received as well as the 3 different magnets, glitter, regular and soft touch!  Now, without further ado, on to the polish!

Above:  2 coats of Layla Turquoise Splash

Above:  2 coats of Turquoise Splash with Flash

Let me start by saying that these are NOT matte!  Matte polishes are made with a powder substance (which is what gives them the slightly chalky feel at times) but the Layla Softouch Effect has a wax in it which is what gives it it's "not shiny" look.  Turquoise Splash is a beautiful turquoise polish with green flecks in it.  It is absolutely stunning in person!  Imagine something like Zoya Charla but with more green flecks then given a not shiny look and made very smooth.  THAT is what this polish is like!  It's absolutely fabulous and I cannot wait to buy more from this line!  The formula is fantastic, opaque in two coats and the best part is that it's meant to be worn without a base coat and no staining!

Above:  Purple Galaxy Magneffect

Above:  macro shot of the heart magnet nail

Purple Galaxy is part of the original Magneffect line but now there are 4 new magnet shapes!  Please excuse the very messy swatch here, I haven't used a magnet in awhile and it was a bit challenging for me to get back into it!  The new magnet designs are a heart, star, hashtag and arrows.  The heart was a bit hard to line up properly but it's so cute!  The arrows and star come out really clearly and look gorgeous!  I did one coat of the polish and then a second, more thick coat right before applying the magnet and they worked great!

Above:  Softouch Magneffect in Turquoise Wave

I still can't figure out how this polish is even possible to make but I am SO glad it is!  Yes, you are looking at a "not shiny" magnetic polish.  Yes, it dried this way, no top coat is involved.  Yes, it's just as cool as it looks!  I will say that the heart effect did not work for me with this one but the rest look awesome!  I did one coat of the polish, let it dry for just a minute and then did a second coat and immediately did the magnet on top!  They also dried super fast!

Above:  Magneffect in Starry Night

And finally, a glitter magnetic polish!  This polish has fine microglitter in it that makes it really fun and sparkly!  It works like any other magnetic, it just has a really fun glitter finish to it!  I love how dark this one is but how the magnet really lightens it and the glitter just adds some sparkles to your tips!

All in all, Layla is really stepping it up with innovative new collections!  "Not shiny" polishes, "not shiny" magnetics, glitter magnetics, heart magnets, lots of new stuff!  Stay tuned tomorrow for some holographics, flakies and a mirror effect polish!  Keep your eyes open at your normal Layla seller (Ulta, Ninja Polish, Ave You, etc) for when these are launched!  Some might even be out already!

piCture pOlish Blog Fest 2012 featuring Amethyst and White Wedding!

Good morning my fellow lacquered lovers!  Happy Monday!  Today, I have something to show you guys that I'm really excited about!  The awesome Australian brand piCture pOlish is having their annual "Blog Fest" today!  Almost 80 bloggers are participating around the world this year and I have the honor of being one of them!  Today I'll be showing you two nail polishes that were created in conjunction with some of the owners of websites that sell piCture pOlish!  Now, without further ado, on to the polish!

Above:  2 coats of Amethyst

Above:  2 coats of Amethyst with Flash

According to piCture pOlish's website, this shade is "Amethyst was created with Susan of Star Trinkets, is exclusive to Star Trinkets & piCture pOlish and forms part of our Collaboration collection. When we asked Susan about her shade she said 'how about purple denim' so that is what has been fashioned! A stunningly beautiful blend of textures and glitters so really what more could a girl ask for? Well according to past history people believed amethyst crystals guarded against getting drunk so perhaps keeping a bottle in your handbag is a good thing!"

I love the description!  This is such a complex shade!  I love the purple base and the crystal like flakes in it!  And, it only took two coats to be opaque!  I love how texturized it looks and how much depth this shade has!  And I really like that it's not quite dark enough to be a royal purple but it is dark enough to be worn in every season!  The application was fantastic, easy to apply and no dragging!

Above:  3 coats of White Wedding

Above:  3 coats of White Wedding with Flash

White Wedding, according to piCture pOlish's website "White Wedding was created with Leah Ann from Llarowe, is exclusive to Llarowe & piCture pOlish and forms part of our Collaboration collection. Does Leah Ann fancy rockers from the eighties? She asked for a 'platinum white with rainbows' and then advised it would be called White Wedding. White Wedding is not a holo, not a multi chromatic and not a glitter. It has a mystery effect that is just magical (you will not see it in our photo) so you really need to see White Wedding in person!"

So let me apologize that I could NOT get this to photograph in all it's beauty!  White Wedding is full of multicolored half glitter/half flakie pieces.  They almost look like they are all different shades of clear pastel glitter if that makes sense!  This is a whole new take on white nail polish and I have to say, it is absolutely stunning in person!  The shimmer/glitter/flakie give it such a unique texture and depth so it's not just stark white and it has an almost jelly like quality.  The polish took three coats to be opaque but I cannot wait to experiment with layering it over other colors!  Honestly, this is one you really have to see in person to appreciate it's beauty but it's fantastic!

All in all, I LOVED these polishes!  I seriously need to add more piCture pOlish to my collection (google swatches of the new shades Demeter and Kryptonite, I'm in love.)  Each of the polishes in the new collection will be available on piCture pOlishes website HERE and at the individual seller's website for that polish so you can buy White Wedding HERE and Amethyst HERE.  Also check out piCture pOlish on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest!  a HUGE thank you to the ladies of piCture pOlish for letting me participate in this awesome event!

What do you think of these polishes?  Any must haves?  Any dupes?

Lacquered Lover at Cosmoprof featuring ncLA!

Good afternoon my fellow lacquered lovers!  Happy Thursday!  I hope you all are having a wonderful week so far and enjoying my pictures from my trip to Cosmoprof!  I'm going to work on some swatches tonight but for now, I hope you like hearing about what all these fabulous brands have coming up!  Today I'm going to show you one of my favorite new brands, ncLA.  You might have seen me review their Summer of '69 nail polishes which I loved and one set of their nail wraps which were fabulous!  Now, without further ado, on to the polish!

Above are the colors currently in ncLA's collection!  I love how neat they all look lined up in a row like this!  I love that they have an array of colors and finishes from pastels to brights to darks to shimmers to cremes to glitter!  For a newer brand they really have a great core collection!

Above are some of the new Fall and Holiday polishes by ncLA!  Shimmers, glitters, they look fabulous!  There are a couple of other colors as well that in all my excitement I forgot to take pictures of but as soon as the lovely Elin from ncLA send me more information on them I will update you all!

Last but not least here aer a selection of some of ncLA's really cool Nail Wraps!  These are so unique (you've seen me wear one set and I have many more I can't wait to try!) and the bottom left two that say Special Edition are a newer, more thin formula!  I can't wait until these come out!

All in all, I'm really impressed by what ncLA has in the works!  I can't wait to try out some more of their unique nail wraps and some of their upcoming shades!

Let me know what you think!

Lacquered Lover at Cosmoprof featuring Layla Cosmetics!

Good afternoon my fellow lacquered lovers!  Happy Wednesday!  After an amazing 3 days in Las Vegas I am back in NYC!  Cosmoprof was an AMAZING experience (even though I'm truly exhausted and everything hurts now) and I am SO excited to be sharing with you all of the amazing brands I met with and fab pictures of new collections! Today I will be showing you all the new pretties from Layla cosmetics!  Now, without further ado, on to the polish!

Here is a picture of me with the lovely Babila and Connie at their Cosmoprof booth!  They were an amazing insipration to meet and the sweetest, funniest, most lovely ladies you could ever meet!

Here is Babila and Connie with their award they won at Cosmoprof!

Above we have Layla's new Ceramic Soft Touch collection!  They are GORGEOUS!  Now let's clear one thing up, these are NOT matte nail polish.  They are just not shiny!  Matte nail polishes have a powder in them to make the matte effect and can sometimes be a bit chalky to the touch but these have a wax in them that makes them unbelievable soft.  There are an array of creme, shimmer and glitter soft touch polishes that are simply amazing.  I was lucky enough to get a gorgeous dark blue with a turquoise glitter to it that I cannot wait to swatch!  These are truly something unique!

Above are the Layla Ceramic Effect nail polishes.  Gorgeous colors that are self leveling, shiny and really beautiful!  They have a huge selection of stunning colors in cremes and shimmers that are really great!

Above is the Christmas in Laylaland Collection which will come out in time for the holidays!  This is part of the Ceramic Effect Line and has shimmers, large flake glitter and actual flakies!  They are so pretty!  I love how they look, definitely holiday themed and who doesn't love glitter, shimmers and flakes?

Above is what I know you have all been waiting for, the new Hologram Effect polishes!  Layla is adding 8 gorgeous new colors to their holographic line!  You've seen some of the original colors on the blog before because I am obsessed with them and the new shades do NOT disappoint!  Greens, browns, purples, pinks, they are just simply stunning and insanely holographic!  I'm in love!

Above shows the expansion of the Layla Magneffect line!  They added a bunch of gorgeous new shades that I am super excited about!  I love magnetic polish, it has such a cool effect and actually Layla's was the first I tried!

In addition to the regular Magneffect expansion, Layla is also introducing magnetics in the soft effects!  Yep, non shiny magnetics!  How cool are these?  I seriously cannot wait to try these beauties!

Also they are releasing 4 new magnet designs!  A heart, star, arrows and criss cross!  I love these different designs and can't wait to try them out!  The heart especially looks amazing!

Last but most certainly not least is the new Mirror Effect line.  This is a collection of true chrome polishes that are amazing.  No brush strokes!  I have the black one and am seriously stoked to put it on!  They are so shiny and amazing, I could actually see my reflection in them!

All in all, I am super excited for everything Layla has coming up!  They are truly an inventive brand that keeps pushing the nail polish boundaries and I love them for it!  Such unique polishes (I mean really, non shiny magnetics?) and I want to try them all!  Plus the ladies who run the company and the US distribution could not have been nicer, more fun or more gracious!

What do you think of these polishes?  Which are you most excited for?
