Purple Manicures and Makeup for World Cancer Day 2014!

Good morning my fellow lacquered lovers!  Happy Tuesday to you all!  I hope you are all having a wonderful week so far.  Looks like it will be a snowy one here in NYC!  With NYFW fast approaching (2 days!) let's hope it clears up soon!

But first, today I have a purple post for you all in honor of World Cancer Day.

World Cancer Day helps to raise awareness and money for the fight against cancer.  Most of us probably know people who have battled the disease and I've lost family members and had survivors surround me. According to their website:

"World Cancer Day takes place every year on 4 February and is the single initiative under which UICC, its members, partners and the entire world can unite together in the fight against the global cancer epidemic. World Cancer Day is an initiative of UICC, through which we aim to help save millions of preventable deaths each year by raising awareness and education about cancer, and pressing governments and individuals across the world to take action against the disease. "

Since Purple is the color of cancer awareness, I'm sharing some of my favorite makeup and nail looks that feature purple!  Now, without further ado, onto the polish (and makeup!)

Revlon Gucci Westman Summer 2012 Escapism Collection Swatches and Review

Good afternoon my fellow lacquered lovers!  Happy Friday!  I have a very busy weekend ahead (and hopefully the weather will hold out) and I will show you my awesome manicure for it later today.  But first, I have a new drug store collection for you!

These are 3 out of the 4 polishes in the new Gucci Westman for Revlon Escapism Collection for Summer 2012!  This collection also features a bunch of makeup but this being a nail polish blog, you get to see the nail polish today! Now, without further ado, on to the polish!

Above:  3 coats of Sheer Seafoam

Well, I have to give them credit for getting the name right but the polish, that's another story.  Sheer blue polish?  And I mean really sheer, this is three coats.  It's,... not good.  My nails look like they are just stained blue like after taking off a particularly heavy blue.  I'm not a fan.  I've been trying to think of ways to layer this so it will work but so far, I've got nothing.  If you have any idea, please let me know!  The color in the bottle is really pretty but I'm not sure who does the research and development here because it's not cute.

Above:  2 coats of Revlon Red Bikini

Now this polish I can get behind!  Red Bikini is a BRIGHT red that has a lot of coral to it.  I really like this shade!  It's super bright and fun for summer, exactly the shade you can see yourself wearing at the beach!  I love all the coral in it because it gives it a really warm feeling and it looks great on my pale skin!  The formula was excellent on this, fully opaque in two coats, tons of pigment, and just a great summer shade!

Above:  1 coat of Gold Coast over 2 coats of Red Bikini

Gold Coast is a really fun polish!  It's a very shimmery gold.  It almost looks like gold shimmer in a clear base which is really cool!  This polish is sheer but surprisingly built up really well in two coats.  A third coat probably would have made it mostly opaque!  Since it was so sheer, I wanted to see how it looked layered so I put a coat over Red Bikini and LOVE the outcome!  It's so sparkly and fun and makes Red Bikini look very glowy!  Plus there is a hint of a pink flash to Gold Coast which is awesome!

All in all, this collection was kind of a mish mash.  Sheer Seafoam was one of the most bizarre polishes I have ever seen (I mean seriously, who wants a sheer blue?) but Red Bikini was fabulous and had a great formula and Gold Coast is a really fun layering polish!  These polishes have started popping up in drug stores all over the US so keep your eyes peeled!

What did you think of these polishes? Any must haves? Any dupes?

Revlon ColorStay Longwear Nail Enamel in Midnight, Sequin and Vintage Rose Swatches and Review!

Good afternoon my fellow lacquered lovers!  I hope you are all having a nice Tuesday!  Today I have a few polishes to show you from the new Revlon ColorStay Longwear Nail Enamel line!  I'm so happy that these are a different bottle shape than the rest of their line because these are so much easier to use!

Today I have three to show you, Sequin, Vintage Rose, and Midnight.  Now, without further ado, on to the polish!

Above:  2 coats of Midnight

As most of you probably know, I love blue nail polish!  Give me a dark teal and I'm sold!  Midnight is a gorgeous and rich teal creme.  I love that this is more blue based than a lot of teals we have been seeing recently!  The formula was great, opaque in two coats and really easy to use.

Above:  2 coats of Vintage Rose

Vintage Rose is a deep, dusty rose shade.  This polish actually reminds me of my great grandmother (who was one cool and awesome lady when she passed away last year just shy of her 104th birthday) because she always had her nails polished in a shade like this!  This isn't a shade that really appeals to my palette but if you are a pink lady or need more subdued polishes for work, this could be a winner!  The formula was really nice, opaque in two coats and easy to use.

Above:  2 coats of Sequin

Sequin is amazing.  A few weeks ago, some of you were asking me for an affordable silver foil.  This is it!  Sequin is a tad bit darker than your run of the mill silver which makes it unique in my collection of many silver foils!  Honestly this polish was almost a one coater but I added a second for good measure.  I love how sparkly this looks and how easily it applies!

All in all, I was impressed with these!  The formula was excellent on all three, the silver was great and the bottle redesign is so much better!  Revlon ColorStay Nail Enamel runs for around $7.99 per bottle and is found wherever Revlon is sold.

What did you think of these polishes?  Any must haves?  Any dupes?
