NO H8 - A Purple Manicure In Honor of Eradicating Hate

Good morning my fellow lacquered lovers!  Happy Thursday!  I'm so sorry about the lack of posting this week but between the hurricane and catching up on everything in life, I've been a bit busy!  Today's post is something very special to me that I want to share with you.  We all know that bullying has always been a problem, but now, with the internet, cyber bullying takes it to a whole new level.  People think that because they are behind a computer screen, it gives them the "right" to say whatever they want, regardless of the consequences, because they don't have to face up to them the way they do in real life.  People can say "sticks and stones" and that they are "just" words but the truth is, when it's directed at you, those words hurt.  It's time we make a stand, and the nail polish and beauty blogger community has come together to do purple manicures to bring attention to the cause.  Now, without further ado, on to the polish!

I decided to do a jelly sandwich!  I used Nfu-Oh 28 and Lush Lacquer Salt N Pepa for this manicure.  Purple is the color behind the anti bullying movement so I figured this was a fun way to show it off!  Here is a little more information behind this movement:

Bullying is not funny. It is not cool. It is not right. And more importantly, it is not okay.
Most of us are, thankfully, residents of countries that support tolerance and many of our families have settled in these places simply for that reason. Generations later, it is our responsibility to perpetuate that message of tolerance across our new social platforms, including the internet.

As members of the nail polish blogging community, we all share a love of beauty, color, and lacquer. Other than that, we are remarkably different: from our race to our religion to our hair color...even to our polish application techniques. To marginalize anyone because of those differences is completely unacceptable and today I take a stand against that. I refuse to allow other people's view of "normal" dictate how I behave, believe, and blog.

In solidarity with a multitude of bloggers linked below, my purple manicure represents my proud commitment to the No H8 movement. Today, November 8, I dedicate my post to ending bullying of any kind and to encouraging diversity and imperfection among our colorful community.

Thanks for taking the time to read and feel free to leave any comments below!  If you've ever been a victim of bullying or cyber bullying, you know how much it can hurt so feel free to join in and take a pledge with us to stop bullying.

My Birthday Manicure Featuring Lush Lacquer Dippin Dots!

Good afternoon my fellow lacquered lovers!  Happy Wednesday!  I'm having a fabulous day because today, I turned 27 years old!  Somehow that sounds a lot older than 26 but since 26 was a pretty great year, here is hoping 27 is even better!  To celebrate my birthday, I knew I needed a manicure that was full of glitter so I figured I'd try out one of my amazing new Lush Lacquer polishes!  They are quickly becoming one of my favorite indie brands!  I took a bunch of pictures because I just love this manicure so much!  Now, without further ado, on to the polish!

I wasn't kidding when I said I took a lot of pictures!  I started off with Milani Fast Dry in White and Finger Paints Black Expressionism for the base and did my signature "Carly Manicure" with the hands different colors and a few nails swapped!  Then I topped it off with just one coat of Lush Lacquer Dippin Dots!  Here is how they describe the polish!  "  It has a clear sheer base with a huge mixture of glitter...all different sizes of pink, orange, green, yellow, blue, and purple glitters are used to make this fun and flirty polish."  I LOVE it!  Here are some macro shots with my fun new Olloclip!

Lush Lacquer Salt N Peppa Swatches and Review!

Good afternoon my fellow lacquered lovers!  I hope you're all having a nice Wednesday.  I just got poured on when I ran out to lunch so I now vaguely resemble a drowned rat.  Today, I have an awesome indie polish to show you from the brand Lush Lacquer.  I seem to have an obsession with black and white glitter nail polishes lately and this is another one to add to the growing collection!  Now, without further ado, on to the polish!

For the bases of this polish, the hot pink is Illamasqua Collide and the purple is Illamasqua Jo'Mina.  Lush Lacquer Salt N Peppa is a glitter top coat that's a clear base with black and white glitter in different sized square glitter, hexagonal glitter and white bar glitter.  There is also really small iridescent glitter mixed in that really gives this a shimmery look that's different from the other black and white glitters I've tried.  This was really easy to work with, the glitter came out easily and wasn't too hard to spread evenly on the nail and basically, I think this polish is awesome!

All in all, I'm a HUGE fan of this polish!  I love how black and white glitter pops over any bright color and this is no exception!  You can buy Lush Lacquer on Etsy for $8.75 per bottle.  I have a few other Lush Lacquers in my untrieds so get ready to see more swatches soon!
