Lacquered Lover at Cosmoprof featuring Barielle and Shany!

Good morning my fellow lacquered lovers!  Happy Friday to you all!  Today is a special day for me because today is my last day at work at the job I've been at for 3 years.  I'm very excited about my new endeavor because it's finally making my dream of working in the beauty field a reality!  I will give more details once I start but first, let's continue on our journey through Cosmoprof!  Today I will show you just a few snippets of Barielle and Shany at the event!  Now, without further ado, on to the polish!!!

First is a Dainty and Delicate set by Barielle of all pinks, peaches, whites and nudes.  These polishes are perfect for the professional, a wedding, anywhere that your nails should look clean and nice.  Good basic colors to have!

Obviously I'm a sucker for anything NYC related but I love the shades in this collection.  The green/teal, red, greys all scream NYC in the Fall!  I don't have an exact release date but I was told sometime this Fall!

Barielle is also coming out with a Runway Collection that's also for Fall that has a vampy brown, deep blue shimmer and more neutral cremes to balance it out!

Shany is a company I haven't had the pleasure of seeing or working with yet and they have a HUGE line of nail polish, cosmetics and basically anything beauty related you can think of!

A GIANT eyeshadow palette from Shany!  Seriously I'd love to have this, think of the makeup possibilities!

A cute french manicure set that has everything you need from a nude, pink, white, topcoat toe separators, file, orange stick and clean up brush!  I love being able to get everything in one place!
A really cute magnetic set!  Comes with six polishes in rich jewel tones and a few different magnet shapes!  I really love magnetics and I'm loving that more affordable brands are starting to carry them!

Shany has some awesome nail art stripers from glitters to neons to pastels.  The pastels are really unique since most brands that I've seen don't have them!

Look at all these different nail art items!  There are 3D fimo, flakes, glitters, microglitters, all sorts of fun stuff to put on your nails!

The last thing I snagged a picture of was Shany's stamping plates!  I've never tried them before but I've heard fabulous things about them!

All in all, some great stuff here from Barielle and Shany!  Makeup, nail polish, nail art, you name it and I saw it all at Cosmoprof!  Stay tuned for a few more posts about the awesome booths I saw!

Barielle Eli's Magic, Shannon's Attitude, Starry Sky and End of the Rainbow Swatches and Review!

Good afternoon my fellow lacquered lovers!  Today, I have some brand new Barielle polishes to show you!  As some of you might know, they recently released NINETY new colors!  Yes, 90 new colors all at once!  That's a lot!  I have 4 of the new ones to show you today, so now, without further ado, on to the polish!

Above:  2 coats of Eli's Magic

First up is Eli's Magic. a medium pink creme.  On Barielle's website they describe it as "hot pink" but I don't think it's quite bright enough to be in the "hot"category.  Anyway it's a very nice pink polish if that's your kind of thing!  The formula was good, much better than Barielle's I've tried in the past, and it was fully opaque in 2 coats!  If you're a pink lover, this is a good staple to have in your collection!

Above:  1 coat of End of the Rainbow over black

End of the rainbow is a really pretty sheer emerald green polish with light blue shimmer to it.  It's not quite duochrome but it has some really nice flashes of the blue!  I personally liked it layered better over the black because the color seems to pack more punch that way!  Plus then there is no visible nail line like there is with two coats of it on its own.  I can't wait to try this layered over blue, I think it would really pull out the blue flash more!

Above:  2 coats of Shannon's Attitude

Shannon's Attitude is described on Barielle's site as being a "jelly purple with foil flakes."  Now it is definitely a jelly purple but I wouldn't call these foil flakes.  Then again, it's not quite bar glitter either.  What I do know is that it IS holographic!  So that's actually pretty cool.  I love that the bigger glittery pieces aren't exactly straight, they look very three dimensional in the polish which is pretty unique!  I really like that there are tiny pieces of holographic glitter in it as well.  I also like that it wasn't terribly thick or hard to work with, however I do think in the future I will layer this over a purple.

Above:  1 coat of Starry Sky over 2 coats of Eli's Magic

Last but not least is Starry Sky which is silver smaller glitter in a clear base.  However this glitter is not just silver, in real life, it basically has a mirror finish!  The light catching on it is insanely bright!  I actually really like this because it has a disco ball feel to it!  I also liked that the base was not terribly thick and really easy to use.  Plus there was a ton of glitter!  That's just one coat above!

All in all, I'd say Barielle is really stepping up their game!  Their formula is far improved, Shannon's Attitude is a really unique polish, and it looks like they have some other great new polishes!  You can find Barielle on their website for $8 a bottle, although today only they have a sale for 30% off!

What did you think of these polishes?  Any must haves?  Any dupes?

Barielle Gem Stone Earth Collection Spring 2012 Swatches and Review!

Good morning my fellow lacquered lovers!  I hope you all had a fabulous weekend during this last weekend in January!  I had a weekend full of lots of swatching so get ready for some fun stuff this week!  First up, I have the new collection by Barielle for Spring 2012!

The Gem Stone Earth Collection is five shades in more neutral shades for spring.  However a few of the colors are really cool shimmery shades!  I was a bit apprehensive because I haven't had the best luck with Barielle polishes before, but they seem to have made some changes that are really helping them out as a brand!  Now, without further ado, on to the polish!

Above:  3 coats of Pink Quartz

First up in Pink Quartz.  I had a bit of trouble with the formula on this one, I found it to be very thick so rather than 2 coats like I would normally use for a cream, I tried 3 more thin coats.  After 2 coats it was a bit streaky but the third coat seemed to even it out.  I might try to add some thinner to it to see if I can work out the thickness problem because this is a great neutral shade for spring, and would be great as "underwear" for other colors as well!  I kind of think this was misnamed though, because to me, a shade with Quartz in the name should have some shimmer or sparkle to it since quartz is a sparkly stone, but that's just semantics at this point.

Above:  2 coats of Granite Glitter

I actually really love Granite Glitter!  It almost reminds me of a frostier version of Chanel Graphite.  Granite Glitter, while possibly misnamed because there isn't really glitter to it, is a very shimmery dark grey with the tiniest hints of sliver and a bit of green to it.  I just love how it looks on the nail!  This one the formula was great on, in fact it was practically a one coater but without being overly thick!  This is definitely one of my favorites from this collection!

Above:  2 coats of Amber Sparkler

Amber Sparkler is the brown twin sister of Granite Glitter!  Amber Sparkler is a really pretty brown/coppery shimmery polish.  You can see the tiniest hint of the brush stroke on this polish but honestly, I didn't notice it until I blew up my pictures to put them on here!  I actually really like this color for spring because it's neutral but still interesting, so it's not just a boring earth tone.  Amber Sparkler is opaque in two coats with no issues with the formula.

Above:  2 coats of Back to Nature

Back to Nature ran into a few of the same formula problems as Pink Quartz.  While it wasn't quite as thick, the formula was still far more thick and almost sticky than any of the shimmers.  I got away with two thin coats of Back to Nature for full coverage, but I definitely had to take my time and go much slower than usual with the application.  That being said, I think this nude is actually the perfect color for my skin tone!  I'm not much of a nude wearer, but maybe after a bit of thinner, this could also be used as an "underwear" polish for me.  If you are a nude wearer, beware that the formula will be thick but can be worked with.

Above:  2 coats of Green Opal

Last but most certainly not least is Green Opal.  I actually love this color!  The formula was great, two coats to full opaqueness and lots of pigment, and the color is pretty unique!  Green Opal is almost a light olive green with gold shimmer in it!  The gold shimmer gives it a warm tone and I just think this color is super pretty for the spring!  It's also not so bright or so green that you can't wear this polish anywhere and still feel a bit funky!  Green Opal is definitely a winner to me.

So there you have it, Barielle's new Spring 2012 collection.  I will say that Barielle has really stepped it up in my mind.  The formula on the cremes is still hard to work with and too thick to be easily applied, but I had no issues with the shimmers and really enjoyed the shimmers!  Barielle is available online and sign up for their newsletter because they run sales all the time!

What do you think of this collection?  Any must haves?  Any dupes?
