OCC Lip Tar Stained Gloss Swatches and Review!

Good morning my fellow lacquered lovers!  Happy Thursday to you all!  I know it's been awhile since I've done a review but I'm back in action now and what better way to start off than with one of my all time favorite brands, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics?

At The Makeup Show New York this past weekend, OCC debuted their newest addition to the Lip Tar line, Stained Gloss.  I was lucky enough to receive all of them from the amazing David who created the brand and I'm so excited to share them with you!  All of these new lip tars have a translucent, glossy quality to them.  Now, without further ado, on to the lip tars!

Above:  Androgyne

First up is Androgyne, a gorgeous bright orange.  OCC describes it as a "Psychedelic Orange Gel."  I love that this gives a nice pop of color but is still sheer enough that you don't feel like you're wearing neon orange lipstick (although if you follow my Instagram you know how much I love bright orange lipstick.)  The color payoff was decent on Androgyne and they give your lips a nice orange juicy glow.

Above:  Jealous

Jealous was the first of these that I tried and I think it might be my favorite!  OCC describes Jealous as being "Popsicle pink/red" and that's pretty much exactly what it looks like.  This is a very warm pink based red that literally looks like a red ice pop melted and you rubbed it on your lips and it looks amazing.  The color payoff on this was great and the formula was so smooth and glossy!

Above:  Meta

Meta is described as being a "Red Orange Shellac."  This is another one with a big color payoff with a glossy lip!  It's not as sheer as some of the others but still has the glossy, juicy quality of all the Stained Gloss.

Above:  New Wave

New Wave is described as "Glassy neon pink" and again, that's pretty accurate!  This is a BRIGHT pink gloss with a very good color payoff.  This is a great pigmented, juicy pink that's perfect for Spring and summer this year!  The formula was really smooth and just glides on.

Above: Rhythm Box

Rhythm Box is the darkest of the Lip Tar Stained Gloss collection and it's just beautiful!  It's described as being "translucent purple burgundy  and while it looks like that in the tube, on the lips it's more of a deep pink with purple undertones.  I like that this isn't as dark as it looks in the tube because the color payoff on the lip is gorgeous!

Above:  Voyeur

Voyeur is a little weird as some OCC Lip Tars tend to be but then again it wouldn't be OCC without something quirky!  Voyeur is described as "Yellow Glaze creates a Peach Neutral" but on me, it's more just yellow.  Now this isn't one I'd wear on my own BUT I think it could look really cool layered over a more pigmented lip tar.

All in all, I'm a big fan of the new Lip Tar Stained Gloss collection.  There is a pretty good color payout on these for being a gloss and I find I can get about 5-6 hours of wear out of them!  The formulations are pretty smooth, a tad bit sticky when first applied but that wears off in a few minutes and  you get a glossy, juicy color on your lips.  I can't wait to try these over some lipsticks to really add some shine and depth to them!  Here are a few pictures of me wearing Jealous:

The OCC Lip Tar Stained Gloss Collection will be available May 23rd, 2013 at Sephora and OCC for $18 each.

MAC Hayley Williams Collection Daydreaming and Sounds Like Noise Swatches and Review!

Good afternoon my fellow lacquered lovers!  Happy Tuesday to you all!  I hope you're all having a lovely week so far!  I've recently started to become a little more creative in my makeup so when I saw that MAC was releasing a line of orange makeup in conjunction with Hayley Williams of Paramore, I had to check it out!

I bought both this eyeshadow and lipstick when they were released last week!  Now, without  further ado, on to the makeup!

MAC Daydreaming is a vivid coral leaning orange shadow that's full of a pearly finish.  This is a VERY pigmented eyeshadow which I love!  I love that it's kind of frosty and has a lot of shimmer to it because it makes it much more wearable.  It's super soft the touch and just goes on beautifully.  Here is how I wore it below with the Kryolan bright palette, Illamasqua liquid liner and mascara and Urban Decay 24/7 liner on the bottom.

I honestly had no idea how to pull of an all orange eye but I love how subtle it ended up being while still maintaining a fun pop of color!

Sounds Like Noise is a BRIGHT orange matte lipstick!  I was really surprised at just how bright and pigmented this looked on my arm and kind of loved it!

Luckily on the lip it's slightly more toned down and gives a great juicy look to it.  This is a very matte lipstick so I made sure to exfoliate and moisturize before applying it and after 6 hours, it's still wearing strong!

Here is my full Orange look from today:

The MAC Hayley Williams Collection is available online at their WEBSITE.  Sounds Like Noise lipstick is $15.00 USD and Daydreaming Eye Shadow is $15.00 US as well.

What did you think of this look?  Would you wear all orange makeup for the day?

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Holiday 2012 Metallurgy Lip Tar Collection Swatches and Review!

Good afternoon my fellow lacquered lovers!  Two posts in one day!  I was too excited about this post to not put it up as soon as my pictures were edited!  As some of you may know (especially if you follow @lacqueredover on Instagram or Twitter) I am obsessed with Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC) Lip Tars.  Lip Tars are a different take on lipstick in that they are pretty much pure pigment in liquid form.  All of their former lip tars were big punches of color with a matte finish.  For Holiday 2012, they came out with something new!

The Metallurgy Collection is a new metallic lip tar collection!  The same color punch and quality as the original lip tars but with a metallic sheen to them!  Now, without further ado, on to the makeup!

Above:  Authentic

First up is Authentic.  Authentic is somewhere between a rust/copper/red with orange/gold shimmer to it.  I can honestly say I've never seen a lipstick this shade before!  I really like how it looks, it's good for Fall when you want something a little more neutral than a bright or dark shade but still have some fun with the metallic which really shows up well on this one.  The formula was great, a very small bead of the lip tar on a brush gave me full coverage!

Above:  Electric Grandma

Electric Grandma (and seriously, how funny is that name) is a bright, almost neon coral with pink undertones and a light orange/gold shimmer to it.  Now to me, this is definitely more of a Spring/Summer color but it's really fun!  The coverage on this was great, a small amount of product on a lip brush gave me full coverage and the shimmer is really visible!

Above:  Iced

Now, Iced looks like a hot mess on me on it's own.  It's very sheer unlike the other lip tars and I just could not get it to look normal.  The main reason for this is that Iced is meant to be a layering lip tar.  This white with silver shimmer can be used on top of any lip tar (or any lipstick for that matter) to lighten the color and give it a hint of shimmer.  I will do a post soon of Lip Tar mixing options because this one is stunning when it's layered!  I just wouldn't recommend it on its own.

Above:  Super NSFW

Now I'm pretty sure Super NSFW is my favorite of this collection!  The original NSFW which is a true red was my first lip tar I ever bought and I love it!  Super NSFW is a slightly warmer version of NSFW that also has a golden shimmer to it.  It's lip perfection in a tube for the holiday season!  It's so festive and gorgeous!  Especially from further away you can really see the golden shimmer to it!  As with most lip tars, the formula was perfect, a tiny bead of product on a lip brush is all you need to be opaque.  I wore this one for almost 9 hours yesterday and it was still almost 90% on!

Above:  Triptych

Triptych is called a "True 24k Gold" but I find it to be little lighter and more warm than a true gold.  The formula on this was great however I'm not sure I can really pull off a straight up gold lip.  But, this lip tar is amazing for layering over any lip tar to give it a warm shimmer in the same way that Iced gives a cool shimmer.  Triptych is actually very opaque and a little bit of product makes it opaque so be sure to only use a tiny, tiny bit if using it to add a shimmer!

Above:  Yaoi

Yaoi is my other real favorite of this collection!  Yaoi is a BRIGHT cool toned pink that's full of a light pink silvery shimmer.  I love how neon it is and how the shimmer makes it look even brighter than my beloved Anime!  This is probably not a lip look you could wear every day but it's super fun for a night out!

All in all, this is a solid first metallic collection by OCC.  I really like the layering possibilities of Iced and Triptych and Super NSFW and Yaoi are just gorgeous!  This collection is now available on OCC's website for $16 each!

What did you think of these lip tars?  Any must haves?  Any dupes?
