Lacquered Lover 1 Year Blogging Anniversary Giveaway Part 1!

Good afternoon my fellow lacquered lovers!  Yesterday was a pretty momentous day in the world of Lacquered Lover.  On May 20th, 2011 I decided it was time for me to get back into the habit of writing regularly and what better way to do it than to share my collection and love of nail polish?  My first post was awful, I had no idea how to care for my nails, the pictures were from my blackberry and my first comments were from my boyfriend, my mom and a couple of good friends.  Now here we are, 1 year later, and I'm so incredibly thankful to still be blogging away!  I never thought that in 1 year this little corner of the Internet that I call mine would be home to almost 2,100 followers, 1,600 followers on Facebook, over 500 Instagram followers and all the amazing people who take the time to read and comment on this blog!

I truly love doing this.  I love writing, I love painting my nails, I love bringing you all collections, my attempts at nail art, and hopefully a smile when you interact with me on this blog or other social media.  So, to celebrate Lacquered Lover's first birthday, I thought I'd host a giveaway of Carly's Favorite Things!  Now this giveaway will be two fold.  Today I will share with you part 1 which is the main portion of the giveaway and starting tomorrow, I will post up the reader appreciation part which will just have 1 entry per person as a true thank you for being a part of the last year in my life!  Now, without further ado, on to the prizes!

This is what will be up for grabs!  I split them up into 4 prize packs so there will be 4 different winners!  Let's see what the prize packs are!

First up is a selection of some of my favorite Butter London polishes in Wallis, Snog and Trout Pout as well as a bottle of Zoya Carly!  I never would have known about Butter London if I wasn't a part of this awesome community so I figured it was a good choice!

Next up is the Glitter Prize Pack!  If you've been following my blog for awhile, you know of my love of glitter, particularly Deborah Lippmann!  So this pack includes a mini bottle of Dollish Polish Random Dancing, Deborah Lippmann Forget You, Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe (the polish that started my love affair with her) and OPI Excuse Moi!

Now we have the Blues Prize Pack!  Blue nail polish is my favorite color and these are a few of my favorite blue polishes!  This pack includes Layla Hologram Effect in Mermaid Spell, Dior St. Tropez and Mattese Elite Seduction!  Blue, holo, glitter, Dior, this pack has it all!

Last but certainly not least is the Purple/Grey Prize Pack!  After blue, Purples and Greys are my favorites and this pack has them both!  You can win Chanel Graphite (my first ever and most favorite Chanel!), Color Club Sugar Plum Fairy, Zoya Carly and Layla Hologram Effect in Ultra Violet!  Holo, Chanel, Glitter, what more could you ask for?

So there are your four prize packs you have a chance at winning!  This giveaway will be open internationally so feel free to enter regardless of where you live!  You MUST be a public GFC follower of Lacquered Lover to win and you MUST be over 18 years old.  Giveaway ends June 16th, 2012.  Fill out the form below for your chance to win!  Once again a HUGE thank you to all of you who follow and read this blog and I can't wait for another year!  And remember to check back for more giveaways later this week!  Feel free to leave any comments below, I love getting to interact with you all!

Mattese Elite Me Amour Collection Swatches and Review!

Good afternoon my fellow lacquered lovers!  I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!  I spent a large portion of my weekend swatching and photographing a ton of new goodies for you so get excited for this week!  Today, I have the newest collection from Mattese Elite which is sold exclusively at Ricky's.

Above:  Photo Courtesy of Ricky's

Ok well I don't have the whole collection, but I do have 5 out of 6!  I just couldn't bring myself to buy yet another nude when I so rarely wear them!  The Me Amour Collection was released last week, just in time for Valentine's Day!  There is lots of glittery goodness (and lots of pictures) coming up so get prepared!  Now, without further ado, on to the polish!

Above:  2 coats of Amour De Ma Vie with Artificial Light
Above:  2 coats of Amour De Ma Vie with Flash
Above:  2 coats of Amour De Ma Vie Macro Shot

Amour De Ma Vie is a gorgeous black jelly like base that's packed with small hexagaonal glitter in turquoise, silver, red, pink, gold, and maybe even a few other colors!  It's so fun!  I love that it's opaque in two coats but that the jelly quality of the base still comes through!  I also really like that while there is a lot of glitter in each coat, it's sparse enough that you can see the base.  This is definitely one of my favorites from this collection!

Above:  Baise Moi - 2 coats on pointer and middle finger, 1 coat on ring and pinkie finger
 Above:  Baise Moi With Flash
Above:  Baise Moi Macro Shot (1 coat)

Ok while it's not entirely unique, I still love Baise Moi!  It's like I have some unknown urge to buy ever multi color and multi sized glitter that exists (I'm looking at you Milani Gems, OPI Rainbow Connection, Sephora by OPI Sparktacular, Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday.)  In fact, I have so many, I'm going to do a comparison soon!  Baise Moi is a rainbow of glitter in a variety of sizes.  I tried to show the difference between one and two coats above, but this is definitely a polish that's best for layering.  Want to add some bling to a current manicure?  This will match everything!  And the base isn't overly thick so it makes moving the glitter around much easier than with some other brands!

Above:  2 coats of Embrasse Moi with Artificial Light
Above:  2 coats of Embrasse Moi with Flash
Above:  2 coats of Embrasse Moi Macro Shot

Embrasse Moi is a gorgeous fuchsia microglitter!  And it's opaque in two coats!  I love how glittery and sparkly this looks when on!  This is definitely a glitter to be worn on its own so it can sparkle in all it's fuchsia glory!  I actually can't think of a dupe off hand although I'm sure there are other glitters out there, but if you don't have a fuchsia glitter yet, I highly recommend Embrasse Moi!

Above:  2 coats of Je Taime
Above:  Macro shot of Je Taime

Another unique polish to my collection!  I own a lot of gold glitters, but not like Je Taime!  Je Taime is a light gold and iridescent combination in a clear base!  I love how the iridescent pieces of glitter just shine and give the whole polish an ethereal look.  Je Taime is definitely the most thick polish in the collection and would look best layered.  I'm excited to try different combinations!  I love that there are two different sizes of small glitter and even though it was thick, I didn't have too much trouble controlling the glitter.

Above:  2 coats of Mon Amour with Artificial Light
Above:  2 coats of Mon Amour with Flash
Above:  2 coats of Mon Amour Macro Shot

Last but not least is Mon Amour, a gorgeous salmon colored micro glitter that reaches full opacity in two coats!  Mon Amour is the slightly more tame and feminine sister to Embrasse Moi with the same formulation, just a lighter shade.  I was prepared to not like this one since this isn't a shade I wear too often, but I surprisingly loved it!  I guess you can make anything into a glitter and I will wear it!

All in all, I think this was another really strong showing by Mattese Elite.  The Me Amour Collection is available in Ricky's Stores and on their website for $5.99 per bottle.  I was really impressed with their glitters and can't wait to try some layering options coming up!

What do you think of this collection?  Any dupes?  Any layering combinations you'd like to see?

Mattese Elite Seductive Winter Wonderland Swatches and Review

Good afternoon my fellow lacquered lovers!  I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!  To kick off a Monday, I'm going to show you guys an awesome new collection by the fabulous Mattese Elite!

Seductive Winter Wonderland was released last week and as some of you may remember, I already swatched one color from the collection that was a holo!  So today, I have the full collection to show you all!  There are 6 polishes in this collection so there are a lot of pictures to come!  Now, without further ado, on to the polish!

 Above:  2 coats of Uninhibited
Above:  Macro shot of Uninhibited

According to Ricky's, Uninhibited is "an icy opalescent pearl."  I'd say that pretty much sums it up!  I was very excited that this polish wasn't nearly as sheer as I thought!  What you see above is 2 coats and there is hardly any visible nail line.  There is also a tiny flash of blue in the white which makes it really pretty and I'm guessing it will be a great layering polish!

 Above:  2 coats of Temptation
Above:  macro shot of Temptation

According to Ricky's, Temptation is " a chilly blue, softened by an aqua sheen."  I personally think this leans a bit towards teal, but it's just semantics because this polish is gorgeous!  I love the shimmer in it and how deeply pigmented the color is.  This was so pigmented that it was almost opaque in 1 coat but I threw on a second for good measure.  If you're looking for a gorgeous jewel toned blue, this is your polish!

 Above:  2 coats of Intoxicating
Above:  Blurry Macro shot of Intoxicating

According to Ricky's, Intoxicating is "a deep plum augmented with more subtle pink and blue shimmer."  What they don't tell you is that it looks like a glass fleck!  I love glass flecks!  I included the blurry macro shot because I think it looks pretty cool.  This color is like Barbie on steroids!  Hot pink with bright pink and blue flecks?  Really a fun color for the holiday season and perfectly opaque in 2 coats.

 Above:  2 coats of Seduction
Above:  Macro shot of Seduction

According to Ricky's, Seduction is "a lavender-based explosion of iridescent sparkle."  Yep I'd say that's pretty spot on!  Seduction is packed with a light purple, almost silverish micro glitter that's also packed with holographic glitter!  It's a holographic explosion!  This might be my favorite shade in the bunch!  It's so unique and sparkly!

 Above:  2 coats of Passion
Above:  Macro shot of Passion

According to Ricky's, Passion is "pink, purple and silver glitter collide in this romantic outburst."  The dominant color in this polish is definitely the pink, which is kind of a dusty pink which is interesting, but the purple and silver really pop out in the sun or with a flash!  In the bottle I was expecting it to just be pink so I was really excited to put it on the nail and see how many colors were in it!  This was mostly opaque in two coats which was great for a glitter!

 Above:  2 coats of Mysterious
Above:  Macro shot of Mysterious

According to Ricky's, Mysterious is "blue meets green in this polychromatic glitzfest."  I kind of love that description!  I already reviewed this last week so just look at the pretty pictures!

All in all I think this is a great collection.  Mattese Elite is really stepping up and becoming a player in the nail polish world and I'm so excited for them!  Mattese Elite polishes retail for $5.99 each and can be found either at Ricky's stores or at their website.

What did you think of this collection?  Any must haves?  Any dupes?

Note:  Some of these products were sent to me for review.  Please see my disclosure policy above for more information.
