Lacquered Lover's Divine Caroline Spiderweb Nail Art Tutorial for Halloween!

Good morning my fellow lacquered lovers!  Happy Thursday!  I apologize for the lack of posting this week but I've been a busy lady!  I have some super fun swatches coming up for you all soon (including the gorgeous OPI James Bond Collection) so stay tuned!  Today, I wanted to share with you a little Halloween tutorial I did for Divine Caroline!  Now, without further ado, on to the polish!!!

This little tutorial is so easy to do!  All you need is a base color and a striping polish (or just a polish and a very thin paint brush) and it's super easy to make this Spider Web design!  Be sure to head over to my tutorial on Divine Caroline to learn all about how to do it!

Literary Lacquers Dracula Collection Swatches and Review!

Good morning my fellow lacquered lovers!  Happy Tuesday to you all!  I hope your week is shaping up to be ok so far!  It's gloomy and rainy in NYC today so what better than to show you another Halloween Collection?

Literary Lacquers is an indie nail polish brand that is new to me and names all of their polishes after literary references which I love!  Since I was a kid, I've always loved to read so I love the idea behind this!  The Halloween collection is based off of Dracula which is just an amazing book.  Now, without further ado, on to the polish!

 Above:  3 coats of Mina

Mina is a blackened purple jelly full of bright purple square an smaller more rounded glitters as well as silver hexagonal glitters.  It's so vibrant and fun for Fall!  Plus I love anything with square glitters so I fell in love with this.  The formula was good, a bit thick so I found three thin coats helped it to be opaque without dragging the glitters!

Lucy is a blackened ruby jelly full of small red glitters, red square glitters and silver hexagonal glitters.  It's basically Mina in red form!  It's super pretty with lots of depth.  The formula was a bit thick on this one as well but three thin coats gave it full opacity.

Above:  The Count

The Count is a charcoal jelly full of different sized black glitters.  Since the formula was sheer, on my middle finger I layered it over an orange and I love how it totally changed the color!  This formula was the most thin of them all but three coats made it mostly opaque.

All in all, I liked these polishes.  I love using Dracula as a theme and the fact that there are square glitters, well that has me sold!  They are currently on sale at the Literary Lacquers Etsy Store for $11 a piece which is a bit high for an indie polish but the colors are very fun for Fall.

GlitterDaze A Charmed Halloween Collection Swatches and Review!

Good evening my fellow lacquered lovers!  Happy Monday to you all!  I hope you all had a nice, relaxing weekend like I did!  Tonight, I have my first Halloween Collection of the year to show you!

Above are all macro bottle shots of the GlitterDaze A Charmed Halloween collection.  I have to admit, I got super excited when I saw this collection because I was the biggest Charmed dork back in the day. I think I just love Shannon Doherty and magic!  Now, without further ado, on to the polish!

Above  3 coats of Book of Shadows

First up we have Book of Shadows, described by GlitterDaze as a leathery brown "crelly" (hybrid of a creme and a jelly.  I have to admit that is pretty spot on!  This is a light milk chocolate brown full of gold and broke glitter in hexagons, squares and shards.  This color just screams Autumn to me!  The formula was pretty good, I had full opacity at 3 thin coats and didn't have to hunt for glitter!

I'm an idiot and didn't realize this polish was glow in the dark until I just read it in the description!  I promise glowing pictures to come soon!  My White Lighter is a light blue creme base full of 3 different sized sky blue glitter.  It's so dainty and pretty looking!  I did find that the formula on this one was fairly thick and definitely needs a few drops of nail polish thinner.

Above  3 coats of Source of All Evil

Hands down, this is my favorite polish of this collection!  Source of All Evil is a black jelly full of orange, green and purple small hexagonal glitters and iridescent shards!  The shards make it so fun and sparkly!  The formula on this one was good, three thin coats had it mostly opaque and you can easily layer this over black for maximum effect!

The Charmed Ones is a medium grey jelly polish full of blue, silver and black glitters in different sizes as well as some iridescent shards.  I love the different glitters in this one!  It reminds me of Winter in NYC for some reason.  The formula was good, mostly opaque in 3 coats however I'd probably layer it over a grey the next time I wear it.

I wanted to show you some different Halloween looks with The Power of Three above so the orange is NYC Pumpkin and the black is Black Expressionism by Finger Paints.  The Power of Three is all different sized iridescent glitter in a clear base.  This is definitely meant to be a layering polish and I love how completely different it looks over the bright orange and pure black!  The formula was really easy to use and this is just one coat above!

Last but not least is Vanquishing Demons, a true blood red jelly polish full of gold shimmer with small black shards in it!  I love it!  It's so horror movie!  I will definitely be rocking this polish!  The formula was great, seemed thin but built up nicely in three coats.


All in all, I love this collection and the names!  I really like seeing more people getting into shredded glitter and the iridescent shreds in Source of All Evil really got me!  This collection was released today so hurry on over to the GlitterDaze shop and pick up any bottle for $11 for 14ml if you want them for Halloween!

SoFlaJo Frankie's Lab Dance Swatches and Review!

Good afternoon my fellow lacquered lovers!  Happy Saturday to you all!  I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend so far!  Today, I have one of the new polishes from indie nail polish brand SoFlaJo's Terrified Collection for Halloween!  Now, without further ado, on to the polish!

Above:  2 coats of Frankie's Lab Dance with top coat

Frankie's Lab Dance is an iridescent green with the tiniest flashes of purple and is full of micro glitter in orange, purple and green.  I love how much texture it looks like this polish has!  I'm always a fan of iridescence in polish because I love seeing the subtle purple sheen to it.  The formula was great on this, opaque in two coats but would also look really fun layered over a black!  The glitter does dry rather gritty so I would definitely use a top coat to make it more smooth.


All in all, I love this polish!  And I love that the bow on it says Trick or Treat, it's such adorable packaging!  This polish and the rest of the Terrified Collection is available on SoFlaJo's website for $5 for 5ml or $10 for 15ml!  I definitely want to pick up Purple Reign of Terror and The True Death as well!

KB Shimmer Fall 2012 Collection Swatches and Review!

!Good evening my fellow lacquered lovers!  Happy Wednesday!  I don't usually post at night but this is for a special collection!  Tonight, I have 5 of the fabulous new glitter nail polishes from indie brand KB Shimmer's Fall collection!  Now, without further ado, on to the polish!

Above:  3 coats of Jack

First up is Jack!  Jack is a fabulous Halloween themed nail polish.  It's a black jelly full of orange glitter in all different shapes from hexagons to bar glitter to tiny little round glitters!  I love how great it looks with all the layers, like a pre-made Halloween glitter jelly sandwich!  The formula was great, not too thick, opaque in 3 coats and the glitter was easy to get out!  Top coat smoothed out all the roughness from the glitter

Above:  2 coats of Oh Splat!

I love white polishes with rainbow glitter and Oh Splat! is no exception!  Oh Splat! is a fairly opaque white nail polish with multicolored small and large hexagons scattered throughout.  It reminds me of funfetti cake!  Two coats and a top coat made it perfectly opaque and smooth plus the glitter was super easy to get out!

Above:  3 coats of Quantum Leaf

This is the only polish I swatched without a top coat so you guys can see that while they dry gritty, they even out really well with just one coat of topcoat.  Quantum Leaf (love that name) is the perfect Fall polish.  It reminds me of the trees in autumn!  This is an orange jelly packed with gold and red glitters.  It's really beautiful for Fall without being dark!  The formula was great, the the glitters were easy to get out and three thin coats made it opaque!

Toucan Touch this is a really vibrant lime green jelly full of bar and hexagonal glitters in blue, yellow, orange and green glitter.  I was surprised to see a shade like this in a Fall Collection but I love the unexpected!  Even on my skin tone it didn't made me look too washed out!  The formula is great, opaque in two coats and the glitter was easy to get out.

I took a lot of pictures of this one because I wanted to show the amazing glitter!  Witch Way? is another Halloween themed polish!  This is a stunning deep dark purple jelly full of holographic glitter!  I love how it glows when the flash hit it!  The formula was great, opaque in two coats and just really beautiful!

All in all, this is a fabulous collection!  There are a few other colors that I don't have but I've seen some swatches and they are gorgeous!  I love that all the glitter was easy to get out with these, no fishing for them and the formulas all went on very smooth with no dragging!  The Fall collection will be out on September 1st at their website HERE!

Lacquered Lover at Cosmoprof Day 1 featuring Orly and China Glaze!

Good morning my fellow lacquered love!  Happy Monday!  I'm checking in today from Sin City as I'm at Cosmoprof in Las Vegas!

I honestly had no idea what to expect walking into a beauty trade show but I'm having an amazing time checking out all sorts of brands, meeting awesome people and especially my fellow bloggers!  I just want to post a few teaser pictures for you this morning but keep checking into my Twitter and Instagram all day today and tomorrow (find me @lacqueredlover) for real time updates!  Now, without further ado, on to the polish!

Orly Electronica Collection featuring 4 gorgeous colors including a duochrome!  Gorgeous!

The new Orly Glam FX Collection!  The glitters are amazing and some of the names are great!  My personal favorite is Cupcakes and Unicorns!

Orly Feel the Vibe neon collection that came out this summer!  It's so bright and fun!

Orly now has magnetic nail polish including three different magnet designs!

Orly Spellbound Collection for Halloween 2012!  This is great because all of the glitters will be a part of the Glam FX Collection!  My personal favorite is Monster Mash, an amazing bright green glitter with tiny holo glitters!

Orly Fired Up is the Holiday 2012 Collection featuring a number of stunning golds, reds and a rust shade that is so stunning in person!  I will definitely be picking up some of these!

China Glaze Bohemian Collection is 6 gorgeous duochromes that will be released August 1st!  I can't wait to try them because they are seriously gorgeous!

China Glaze Wicked Collection is their Halloween Collection this year.  The three on the left all have gorgeous hidden shimmers to them and the one all the way on the right is just like Luxe and Lush but with glitter instead of flakes!  They will all release a 4 pack including Ghoulish Glow, the glow in the dark top coat!

China Glazes collection to support Breast Cancer this year includes an array of pinks including a glitter!

The China Glaze Magnetix 2 Collection is being released soon and has 6 rich jewel tones that have a higher iron content than Magnetix 1 to make them easier to use!  Also the top magnet is the new one and I can't wait to try the bullseye one!

China Glaze Avant Garden is the Spring 2013 Collection!  It is comprised of both a pastel set and a brighter set all of gorgeous Spring cremes!  I love that there are a lot of blues, purples and even a green to this collection!  This will launch around March 2013.

Last but most certainly not least is the AMAZING China Glaze Hologlam Collection.  Yes, China Glaze is doing holographic polish again and they are incredible!  Gorgeous linear holos!  I will definitely be needing all of these, they are absolutely stunning but be prepared for a bit of a price increase for these!
