An Illamasqua and NCLA Galaxy Nail Art Manicure (and happy birthday Mom!)

Good afternoon my fellow lacquered lovers!  I hope you are all having a good day!  I wanted to take a minute and wish my mom a very happy birthday today!  She's my biggest supporter of my little corner of the Internet here and probably the reason I love nail polish so Happy Birthday Mom!

Seriously how cute is my mom?

Now I just wanted to share a cute nail art I did a few weeks ago with  you guys!  Now, without further ado, on to the polish!

I really should have written down which polishes I used for this but all the colors are Illamasqua and the glitter is from NCLA!  I love how these turned out for my first attempt at Galaxy nails!

NCLA The Glitz Nail Polish Collection for Holiday 2012 Swatches and Review!

Good morning my fellow lacquered lovers!  Happy Friday!  I hope all of you who celebrated yesterday had an excellent Thanksgiving!  Today, I have a gorgeous new holiday collection from the fabulous brand NCLA to show you all!

This holiday season, NCLA released two sets, each with 1 exclusive color!  I was lucky enough to receive The Glitz set which is all glitters!  Now, without further ado, on to the polish!

Above:  2 coats of Mulholland Maneater

First I want to show you Mulholland Maneater which is a deep royal purple creme.  I already had this NCLA polish and it's what I used as the base for each of the swatches below!  The formula on this one is great, opaque in two coats and really pigmented!

Above:  1 coat of High Above The City Lights

High Above The City Lights is the exclusive shade to this set.  This polish is a clear base that's full of rose gold glitter shards.  I love how this looks!  Shard glitter always looks unique because no two pieces look alike and you get all different sizes and shapes.  The formula on this was really easy to work with, the glitter came out easily and applied to the nail well!

Above:  2 coats of Hollywood Hills Hot Number

I think this is my favorite of this collection!  Hollywood Hills Hot Number is a gorgeous mix of silver, multicolored and iridescent multi shaped hexagonal glitter.  Depending how the light hits it you can see the silver, green, blue, purple, red, orange, pink and yellow!  It's stunning!  It looks like the starts on your fingers and the different shaped glitters make it really gorgeous.  I used two coats here because I wanted a LOT of glitter but the glitters were fairly easy to get out and apply!

Above:  1 coat of Miss Sunset Strip

Miss Sunset Strip is a clear base full of different shades of purple and holographic small glitters and large bright purple hexagonal glitter.  It's gorgeous!  The different sized glitters are really fun and look great over pretty much any color you can think of.  The formula was great and the glitters were easy to use.

All in all, I love these glitters by NCLA!  The formula are good and easy to work with, you don't have to fish for glitters and they spread easily and evenly.  I think NCLA is probably one of my favorite break out brands from 2012 because not only do they have a great collection of polish colors but they also have super fun nail wraps in great designs!  The Glitz collection is available online now for all 3 polishes in a really cute box for $39 at the NCLA Store.

What did you think of these polishes?  Must have?  Any Dupes?

NCLA From Dusk Till Dawn Collection for Fall 2012 Swatches and Review!

Good morning my fellow lacquered lovers!  Happy Monday and L'Shana Tova to my fellow Jewish readers!  Today, I have the gorgeous new Fall collection from NCLA.  I was first introduced to this brand earlier this summer when I reviewed their gorgeous Summer of '69 Collection.  Now I have a bunch of their polishes and nail wraps through Little Black Bag and they are amazing!  I actually saw this collection while in Las Vegas for Cosmoprof and was super excited for it so now, without further ado, on to the polish!

Above:  2 coats of Call Me For The After Party

Call Me For The After Party is a gorgeous midnight blue shimmer.  In the bottle, the shimmer looks silver so I was a bit worried that it would be streaky on the nail but it's not, just simply gorgeous!  I love rich jewel tones for fall!  The formula was great, opaque in two coats and very pigmented.

Above:  2 coats of Dirty Martini

I love the name of this polish!  It truly is an olive green so Dirty Martini fits it so well.  Unfortunately, I can't pull off shades like this with my skin tone at all.  However the formula was good, opaque in two coats and easy to use.

Above:  2 coats of Rock Solid

Rock Solid is really a special polish and the one I was most excited for in this collection!  Rock Solid is a gorgeous medium grey that's packed with silver micro glitter.  It's beautiful!  I love that it's an opaque cream and not a jelly however because of that, the formula is very thick.  I didn't wait long enough between coats so I had some dragging so if you pick this one up, give it a few minutes of dry time between coats!

Above:  2 coats of Without Me There is No VIP!

Without Me There is No VIP is a gorgeous deep berry red that has tiny multi colored glitter in it!  I love that the glitter is kind of hidden and really pops in direct light.  I love how vibrant this shade is!  The formula is a tad thick so be sure you wait a few minutes between coats!

All in all, this is a beautiful collection for Fall.  I love the mix of cream, shimmer and glitter and the variety of shades is great.  A couple of the colors are a bit thick so just take your time when applying these!  Rock Solid is hands down my favorite and I can't wait to keep wearing it this Fall!  This collection is now available at www.shopncla.com for $16 a piece!

Lacquered Lover at Cosmoprof featuring ncLA!

Good afternoon my fellow lacquered lovers!  Happy Thursday!  I hope you all are having a wonderful week so far and enjoying my pictures from my trip to Cosmoprof!  I'm going to work on some swatches tonight but for now, I hope you like hearing about what all these fabulous brands have coming up!  Today I'm going to show you one of my favorite new brands, ncLA.  You might have seen me review their Summer of '69 nail polishes which I loved and one set of their nail wraps which were fabulous!  Now, without further ado, on to the polish!

Above are the colors currently in ncLA's collection!  I love how neat they all look lined up in a row like this!  I love that they have an array of colors and finishes from pastels to brights to darks to shimmers to cremes to glitter!  For a newer brand they really have a great core collection!

Above are some of the new Fall and Holiday polishes by ncLA!  Shimmers, glitters, they look fabulous!  There are a couple of other colors as well that in all my excitement I forgot to take pictures of but as soon as the lovely Elin from ncLA send me more information on them I will update you all!

Last but not least here aer a selection of some of ncLA's really cool Nail Wraps!  These are so unique (you've seen me wear one set and I have many more I can't wait to try!) and the bottom left two that say Special Edition are a newer, more thin formula!  I can't wait until these come out!

All in all, I'm really impressed by what ncLA has in the works!  I can't wait to try out some more of their unique nail wraps and some of their upcoming shades!

Let me know what you think!

ncLA The Electro Nail Wrap Swatches and Review!

Good afternoon my fellow lacquered lovers!  Happy Tuesday!  I have something really cool to show you today!  I was very fortunate to meet the lovely creator behind ncLA nail line this past weekend (and she's such a sweetheart!) while she was visiting NYC and she brought me some fun presents!  She saw that I was lusting after the Electro Nail Wraps on Twitter so she made sure to include those for me so obviously I had to put them on as soon as I got home!  Now, without further ado, on to the polish!

How cool is this pattern?  So here's the deal with these nail strips, they are more the consistency of a sticker rather than a nail polish strip like some other brands, so that means 2 things.  First it means that they can do way more fun designs like this one.  Second it means that they are thicker so they are different to work with.  Each pack comes with two sheets of 22 stickers in all different sizes so if you are someone with tiny nails like me, this means you can conceivably get 4 uses out of one $16 pack!  Let's look at the packaging:

So they are pretty simple, start with a clear coat, find the right size, peel off, put on nail and seal in with a clear coat!  My nails happen to be very curved so between that and the thick nature of the stickers, you can see a few wrinkles at the tips of my nails.  Had I taken more time and played with them a bit more, I probably could have smoothed them out but now I know for next time!  Either way, the pattern was totally worth it.

All in all, I really liked this!  The pattern is just incredible, I seriously don't remember the last time I got so many compliments on a manicure or so many likes on Instagram!  They do take a bit of work to get perfect (which I was warned about) but I have faith the next time I review a set there will be no wrinkle!  They have a ton of different designs so check out their website HERE.  I also really like the fact that you can get so many uses out of one set!  ncLA wraps are available wherever ncLA is sold!

What did you think of this manicure?  Do you like nail stickers?

ncLA Summer of 69 Nail Polish for Summer 2012 Swatches and Review!

Good afternoon my fellow lacquered lovers!  I hope you are all having a fabulous Tuesday afternoon wherever you are!  It's pretty gloomy and grey here in New York these days, the weather is just crazy lately!  So, to cheer up in this grossness, I have some fun bright new colors for you from a brand that's new to me!

ncLA is a brand out of Los Angeles that started with nail polish stickers and now have a line of nail polishes!  This is their Summer of 69 Collection which is based on all music of the 60's!  The only problem is that now I have Bryan Adams singing "Summer of '69" in my head!  Now, without further ado, on to the polish!

Above:  2 coats of Eight Days a Week

For starters, this is one of my favorite Beatles songs ever.  This is also now one of my favorite polishes ever!  Eight Days a Week is a gorgeous periwinkle blue with the slightest undertone of purple to it.  It's gorgeous!  Perfect for Spring!  Best part about it is that it was practically opaque in one coat!  The formula was superb, so easy to work with and really applied well.

Above:  3 coats of Hello, I Love You

Ok now this collection is getting a little too close to my heart.  This is my phone ring when the boyfriend calls me!  Hell, I Love You (after the iconic Doors song of course) is a really bright fuchsia.  It's so bright it's bordering on neon!  I actually thought this color was going to be a lot darker and more purple when I saw it in the bottle but on the nails it really pops!  The formula on this one was more sheer, I'm guessing due to the neon qualities, but three coats made it perfectly opaque!

Above:  2 coats of I'm With The Band

I seriously cannot get enough of these names!  I'm With The Band is a gorgeous bright shimmery coral.  It doesn't look shimmery in the bottle but on the nails, I could definitely see it!  This is a big punch of color, much brighter than many of the corals coming out so far this year!  The formula was great on this one, almost opaque in one coat but I put on a second for good measure.

All in all, I'm a fan of this collection!  Not only do I love the names of the polishes, but the bottle shape is great and the brush was very easy to use.  The formulas on I'm With The Band and Eight Days a Week was excellent although I was a bit disappointed that Hello I Love You was a bit more sheer.  I do love how saturated and pigmented these colors are.  ncLA is available at their website and are $16 each.  They are a bit pricey but the formulas on 2 out of 3 were worth it!

What do you think of this collection?  Any must haves?  Any dupes?
