Sally Hansen HD Featuring LCD and DVD Swatches and Review

Good afternoon my fellow lacquered lovers! I am busy verifying accounts so I can pick a giveaway winner but I wanted to do 2 things before I post the winner.

First of all, I want to wish my very amazing boyfriend/pedicurist AJ a very happy birthday! Most of you have read some of his posts about painting my toes and today, on his 24th birthday, I can't wait to celebrate all weekend long what an awesome guy he is! I'm very lucky to have him (I mean seriously, how many guys would put up with a nail polish addiction like mine) so happy birthday love!

Above: The delicious cookie cake I got for him last night!

Second of all, on to the nail polish (which, coincidentally, AJ picked out!)

First up is Sally Hansen High Definition Color in DVD. We saw this color at a Duane Reade last week and AJ thought they looked really cool so I figured I'd give them a shot. I LOVE this color! It's a purple/blue duochrome, and depending on how the light hits it, either the blue or purple takes center stage.

Here are two more pictures without the flash. Now the formula on these were VERY thin (I think it has to do with the sparkles) so this was 3 coats. I'd love to test this out over a black! One of my readers suggested it may have a similar effect of CND Sapphire Sparkling (which if you remember from earlier this week, I'm obsessed with) but I love the different colors in this polish and the depth it has! I would definitely pick this one up if you see it out in the world!

Now, as many of you know, I am NOT a pink kind of girl. I'm just not! I never was and at 26, I'm still not. So, when AJ picked out the pink LCD as a color he wanted me to get, I looked at him like he had 3 heads. Especially because this was not just any pink, this was hot pink, barbie pink, cotton candy on steroids pink! The horror! But then, I noticed the blue flash to it when the light hit it. I started to come around and now, I kind of like it! The formula is the same as DVD, very thin and required 3 coats but I did just one coat of it over OPI Flower to Flower which I posted about yesterday for my leopard mani and then just one coat got the pink sparkles and the blue flash! If you are a fan of pink and want something a little fun, then this is definitely a polish you should invest in.

All in all, I liked these! I loved the duochrome quality to them, the sparkle on them is great and make the polish look really interesting on the nail, and they are just fun polishes to have! Sally Hansen can be found in most drugstores and I found these for about $6.00 per bottle!

Have you tried any Sally Hansen HD colors? Which are your favorites? Do you like to layer them?
