Deborah Lippmann Fall, Winter and Anniversary Collections!

Fellow Lacquered Lovers! I received this email from Deborah Lippmann's PR department all about their new collections they are going to release! Enjoy!

WARM UP WITH DEBORAH LIPPMANN’S FALL 2011 SHADES

I have worked directly with some of the world’s top fashion designers on everything from ad campaigns to fashion shows. When I set out to select nail looks for the fall 2011 collections, I noticed a common theme among all of my collaborators: warmth. The clothes featured vivid, lush earth tones—think lush greens, rich reds and intense golds.

I wanted to capture a similar heat and earthiness in the accompanying polishes, but with an added punch. BILLIONAIRE, a moody hunter green, BRICK HOUSE, a shimmering rust, and SINGLE LADIES, a flirtatious red, all have warm undertones, which give them a beautiful intensity, but also have a jewel-like quality so they really make nails pop.

SHADE DESCRIPTIONS
Billionaire: moody hunter green (creme)
Brick House: shimmering rust (shimmer)
Single Ladies: flirtatious red (creme)

XOXO,
Deborah

Just in time for the holiday season, Deborah Lippmann Gets the Party started

Nothing says ‘Party’ like the magnetic sparkle of glitter. So for the biggest party season of the year, I’ve created shades that truly dazzle. Get This Party Started, a set of three glitters, was inspired by the overwhelming demand for my best selling Happy Birthday, a glittery party in a bottle. The set includes Happy Birthday, along with two new variations of the sparkling shade: Forget You and Candy Shop. They’re both packed with the same unique hexagon-shaped glitter that gives Happy Birthday its magnificent glint, only Forget You has a sheer black base and Candy Shop a bubblegum pink.

I love how festive all three look and feel, whether wrapped a round a champagne glass or peeping out of a glamorous pump. But what I truly love the most: how a few coats of any shade instantly transform you into the life of the party.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY: a party in a bottle (glitter)
FORGET YOU: party all night (glitter)
CANDY SHOP: bubblegum pink (glitter)

XOXO,
Deborah

SHOW WORTHY

Deborah Lippmann’s new shade, STORMY WEATHER, is a collaboration with fashion designer Narciso Rodriguez.

Usually Narciso requests a nude nail to complement his minimalist designs, but for fall 2011 around he wanted something bolder—a color with strength and edge to offset both his collection and the softness of the hair and makeup. For the perfect custom finish, I mixed (and mixed) a new shade by hand in just 24 hours. The final product: an edgy granite that emanated power and intensity.

The models who walked the show (and who rarely, if ever, comment on the nail color) gushed over the shade. And so STORMY WEATHER was born an edgy granite (crème) for a strong fall statement.

XOXO,
Deborah

Ah I'm so excited! These colors are gorgeous! Who is excited for this collection? What colors are you most excited for?

Butter London Blagger

I am the first to admit that I was not a huge Butter London fan. After my first experience with a Butter London polish, Teddy Girl, I was really unhappy that a polish that cost $14.00 was so streaky and hard to apply. However then I tried Dosh and that all changed, and my new obsession with Butter London was born!

Blagger is described by Butter London as a "Striking Cobalt Blue" and I'd say that's pretty spot on! It's absolutely stunning.

The formula on this was great, it was nearly opaque in one coat but I threw on a second for good measure. I own a LOT of blue polishes (at least 35) and even I didn't have a dupe for this! I love how rich the color is but it's still light enough to be worn in the summer. Blagger came from the Spring/Summer 2011 collection and I'd highly recommend it!

What's your favorite Butter London polish? Does anyone know of any dupes for Blagger in case soemone doesn't want to drop $14 on it?

OPI Pirates of the Caribbean Mini Set

OK I've had these swatches for awhile but I just got so excited by all my other nail polish (a problem I frequently have) I haven't posted them yet! I figure since my giveaway that ends Friday (Enter HERE) includes this same mini pack (in a brand new version of course) I should show them off to you all! The giveaway also includes the Silver Shatter which is shown here as well! All pictures are one coat of Sally Hansen Hard as Nails and two coats of the color.

First up is Skull and Glossbones, which is a light grey with a hint of green:

Next up is Planks a Lot, a gorgeous darker lavender with a bit of dustiness to it:

Now is Sparrow Me The Drama, a medium pink shade with a bit of murkiness:

And last but not least, Stranger Tides, a murky pale green.

Last, I wanted to show how each color lookes with the Silver Shatter, so here they are plain and then with shatter. Sorry for the not so great picture quality, this is before I got my new camera that captures colors perfectly!

So that's the collection! I already swatched Mermaid's Tears a few weeks ago which you can find
HERE. Don't forget to sign up for the giveaway that ends Friday!

Do you love this collection? What are your thoughts on Silver Shatter?

NOTD - Zoya Shawn and Nfu-Oh 56

I know, I've been on a major Nfu-Oh kick lately but I just got my haul from them last week! Here is a quick Nail of the Day from last week that has one coat of Seche Vite Ridge Filler, two coats of Zoya Shawn, two coats of Nfu-Oh 56 and one coat of Essie Matte top coat:

So pretty! Nfu-Oh 56 is super sheer so I wanted to try it layered over a darker green, and the two layers of flakies really made it pop. Then the matte on top? I'm in love!

Do you love flakies like I do? Do you like to use matte top coats? What's your favorite type of polish to matte?

NYC Gay Pride Parade - Rainbow Nails and Sparkles!

Yesterday was the Gay Pride Parade in New York City, and considering the gay marriage bill just passed last week, the timing could not have been better! In honor of the parade, I did a rainbow manicure with a bit of spunk! Here are the polishes I used:

From left to right: Essie First Dance, China Glaze Japanese China Glaze Kiwi Cool-Ada, Nfu-Oh 65, OPI Funky Donkey and OPI Servin' Up Sparkle.

Ok so first, I did my Seche Vite Ridge Filling Base Coat. Then I put two coats of Wet and Wild White Creme on my pointer and middle fingers since I knew I was using neons and really wanted them to pop. Then I did two coats of each color, starting with red on my thumb to purple on my pinkie.

Since I love my holos, I decided to do my ring finger in Nfu-Oh 65, a gorgeous holographic blue! Once I had all the colors on, I decided that I wanted to make all but the ring fingers matte (can't take away the holo).

But the matte wasn't exciting enough for me so I decided to try out my new sparkle, OPI Servin' Up Sparkle! It's gorgeous! It looks like a dupe for China Glaze Techno but I'll do a comparisson this week and let you all know! Here is the finished product:

So I had rainbow sparkly nails for Pride and I loved it! Hope you all enjoyed!

Did anyone else go to a Pride parade this year?

Nfu-Oh 61 and 65: Holo Overload! (Pic Heavy)

I did it! I finally own all SIX of the Nfu-Oh holos! My lovely boyfriend posted about 64 yesterday, and now I bring you 61 and 65! I'm not going to say too much about these, just show you lots of pictures, first indoors with a flash and then outdoors in the sun and all their holographic amazingness! I started with one coat of CND Stickey Base Coat and three coats of Nfu-Oh. I did 65 (a light blue) on all nails with an accent on the ring finger in 61.

Aren't these bottles just divine? The corset, the skirt, the details, I'm obsessed! They are like mini works of art!

Above are the pictures I took indoors with a flash. You can see the slightest bit of holographic goodness, however it did show up in real life more than on the camera. Now, on to the outdoor pictures where the linear holographic effect is really in play. I tried to get as close as I could and show the true holo effects!

Ok writing this is making me want to put another Nfu-Oh holographic on right now!

What do you all think? Do you own any Nfu-Oh holos? What's your favorite holographic polish?

METS Manicure!

So the boyfriend won Mets tickets a few weeks ago, and since I'm a HUGE Mets fan and he's never been to the new stadium, we tried to go to the Mets game yesterday! I had a checkup for my broken foot at the doctor (still broken, 3 more weeks in the boot) and then we headed to Queens to go to the game. In the pouring rain. And after the third rain delay, we finally decided to go home and watch Hoarders instead! However I did do a fun Mets manicure for the occassion which I thought I'd share with you!

First I started with a coat of Seche Vite Ridge Filler and then three coats of OPI Y'All Come Back Now Ya Hear? I do love that squishy orange jelly! Then, since the Mets colors are orange and blue, I added some OPI Blue Shatter on top! (Ignore the shadows in the pictures, I just got a new camera and am still figuring it out!)

Unfortunately I was in a rush and upset about my foot so I did the coat of OPI Blue Shatter too thin, but it's still pretty fun! I did just normal vertical polish on my pointer and pinkie fingers, horizontal on the middle finger and a zig zag for my ring finger! Topped it off with Seche Vite Fast Dry top coat and I was good to go!

Do you guys do special manicures for special events? What are some of your favorites? Do you ever try to shatter in different directions?

Nfu-Oh 64 - A Post By My Boyfriend!!!

Get ready all my lacquered lovers, this post was written by my amazing pedicurist/boyfriend AJ!

While Carly is waiting for her Mets manicure to dry (see the next post!), I thought I'd expound on her current pedicure. Applied by a professional, – that is, me – she's been rocking these holographic tootsies for about three days now, and even the x-ray tech at her podiatrist commented on how awesome they are!

I was thinking about how descriptive my Lacquered Lover gets when she talks about her nail polish after she asked me to write this for you-all's reading pleasure, but to be honest, I have no idea where to begin. Let's let the photographs of these bad boys say what needs to be said.

You're looking at Nfu-Oh's #64, and isn't it gorgeous? I'm basically given carte blanche when it comes to picking colors for pedis (except for greens, Carly would have to explain exactly why), so when I was admiring the holographic hoard from her birthday haul, I was between this purple and a #65 which is a pretty light blue shade. Seeing how last week I had put OPI's DS Sapphire on her feet, I figured we ought to change it up.

Are you loving the holographic trend you've been reading about these last few days? Do you have a go-to color for pedicures? Is there one color you simply can't stand on your toes? Would you ever take a male's assessment seriously when it comes to nail polish fashions? Join the discussion below!

OPI Katy Perry Collection

Ok so I know it's Pink Wednesday however there ARE 2 pinks in this collection! I was going to show off one of my new pink holos but my computer was not cooperating! So, instead I will give you a slightly older collection, the OPI Katy Perry Collection. I bought this as a mini collection and only recently added the Black Shatter to it (originally had China Glaze Black Mesh but decided I wanted to try the OPI as well.) Here we go!

To start with, here are all my minis. I no longer have the packaging but from left to right they are: Last Friday Night, The One That Got Away, Teenage Dream and Not Like the Movies. OPI Minis are REALLY mini, but just so cute that I can't resist them!

Here is Last Friday Night both with and without flash. It is a very sheer blue base packed with blue, pink and silver glitter. I did three coats of Last Friday Night and it's still very sheer. I think this color would be best over a brighter blue because it just doesn't do much for my skin tone on its own.

The One That Got Away is a gorgeous dark pink, almost raspberry color with a glass fleck finish that is just beautiful. I'm not much of a pink girl and I loved this! This was three coats, but with a normal sized bottle I could have gotten away with two. The flecks really make the polish have depth and vibrancy.

Above is Teenage Dream both with and without flash. This is basically a pink version of Last Friday Night but since it's pink based, it looks better on the nails. This is three coats and there is absolutely a visible nail line. You have to be careful with the glitters because if you don't let them dry, it ends up dragging the glitter around and making bald spots! I thought this might be nice over The One That Got Away since I prefer using sheer glitters over a complimentary color.

I actually really liked this combination! It made the dark pink sparkle much more and was just very pretty.

I saved my favorite for last. Not Like the Movies was so awesome that I bought a full sized bottle! It's a grey/almost lavender base that has flashes of red, purple and green in it. It's like a trichome, since a duochrome isn't enough to describe this! There is a very subtle shimmer to this as well and it's one of those colors that is impossible to capture with a camera. Needless to say, this is a must have color for me!

Finally, I wanted to see how the shatter looked over all of them but didn't want to wait for each one to dry so I painted each nail a different color to show the effect. Here is it first without and then with Black Shatter.

From pointer to pinky - Not Like The Movies, Teenage Dream, The One That Got Away, Last Friday Night.

LOVE it! I'd say for me, the only must have was Not Like the Movies however I'm happy to have a mini of The One That Got Away in my collection for when I feel like a deep pink.

What did you all think of the Katy Perry Collection? Any hits or misses?
